Introduction - The experimental Sx values are compared with values of Sx derived from calculations based on turbulence and wind shear. Unfortunately, comparison of observed and calculated Sx for each trial is not possible due to inadequate meteorological data. The initial phase of the along-wind dispersion is attributed to the effect of turbulence and in later stages the effect of wind shear is presume dot become the dominant mechanism. The meteorological data were insufficient to distinguish these processes in the dispersion data, although some qalitative evidence exists to indicate a greater contribution of wind shear further downwind.
